BY AIR

From Vienna Airport

Vienna is the best-connected international airport for travel to Brno. You can take a direct bus ( Regiojet, Flixbus and Gepard Express) to Brno in 2–2.5 hours. Alternatively, take a train from the airport via Vienna Central Station (Wien Hbf), sometimes with a change at Břeclav, Czech Republic. Train tickets can be bought through the České Dráhy online reservation system.

From Brno Airport

Brno has a small international airport, but it is not always the most efficient option. Direct flights from European cities are limited, with flights only from Milan, London, Malaga, and Rome. The airport is about 7.5 km from the city centre. You can get to the centre by taxi (15 minutes) or by bus no. 76, which connects to the main train station. If you prefer to take a taxi, City Taxi has a stand outside the arrivals hall, or you can book them online here.

From Bratislava Airport

Bratislava Airport is situated in the capital of neighbouring Slovakia. It is a medium-sized international airport with many low-cost flights. Trains and buses run from the Bratislava city centre to Brno. You will find information about how to get to the city centre from the airport using public transport or taxis here. Trains depart from the Main Station (Bratislava hlavná stanica, Bratislava hl. st.) to Brno – Hlavní nádraží (Brno – Main train station). The journey time is about 1.5 hours. The timetable is available here.

From Václav Havel Prague Airport

The Prague airport is the main airport for the Czech Republic, with many international flights. It is approximately 210 kilometres from Brno, but connections to Brno are longer and less convenient than from the Vienna Airport. From Prague Airport, take the Airport Express (AE) or bus 119 to Praha hlavní nádraží. The train ride takes about 2.5–3 hours.

If you plan to take a taxi from the airport to the train station, make sure to use one of the taxi services that has a set price and that you agree to the price in advance. Find out more about taxis here.

  • By Train to Brno (recommended):
The train from Prague Main Station (Praha hlavní nádraží, Praha hl.n.) to Brno hlavní nádraží (Brno – Main train station) is recommended. The timetable is available here. Train tickets can be bought through the České Dráhy online reservation system. When purchasing tickets, we recommend making a free seat reservation because trains tend to be full. We recommend taking the train because the bus connection is less reliable due to roadwork and traffic jams.
  • By Bus to Brno
Most buses for Brno leave from the Prague Florenc bus station. The best connection is for Brno AN U hotelu Grand (Grand Hotel bus station), alternatively, you can take a bus to the bus station Zvonařka. Buses run every 30 minutes. The journey time should be 2.5 hours, but it is usually longer. The timetable is available here. Most of the connections are run by Regiojet or Flixbus.

BY TRAIN

Brno is well-connected by rail. Direct trains run from Vienna (1.5–2 hrs), Prague (2.5–3 hrs), Bratislava (1.5 hrs), and Budapest (4 hrs). Tickets can be bought with České dráhyRegioJet, or ÖBB. Many other European cities can be reached by train with a change in Vienna.

BY BUS

Brno is part of the European bus network; all connections and prices are similar to trains. Regiojet and Flixbus provide buses to many European cities. Most buses arrive at Brno AN U hotelu Grand (Grand Hotel bus station), which is on the same street as the main train station.
